Welcome to the Society!
The Macquarie University Security Studies & Criminology Society prides itself upon the maintainance and practice of democratic processes within the society. Transparency reforms of the 2026 Executive Committee are being put into place to make more available to the public about how the society operates.
A central piece of governance in every student society is a document known as the Terms of Reference. This document is comparable to a constitution and highlights how the society shall function and its responsibilities to the university. After 2025, terms of references only encapsulate the positions of the Executive Committee. In order to codify the Management and subcommittees, statutes were introduced by the 2026 Executive Committee, statutes are documents which interpret how internal governance of the society works and to enter force must be voted in by a decision of the Executive Committee (2026 Statute Implementation Statute section 3a).
