A Members' Library

Aided by consultation with the Executive Committee, Professional Development & Education Committee, and external stakeholders. We have developed an initial list which will form the basis for our community consultations. Each text has been recommended, some texts have been ordered in a quantity of greater than one, that is purely based on their significance as required readings in units at Macquarie University. From personal experience, texts are a lot more engaging when you are sitting down and reading a physical copy. We want to make a contribution to the active learning of our members and as we see it, this proposal shall help.

How will it work?

As of current, the plan is that the collection will be stored on our desk in the arts precinct, members will be able to sign on a form to borrow the material. We will allow one member to have a maximum borrowing limit of three items, and a loan period of five weeks. 

How will the society finance it?

The initial collection shall be composed predominantly of new books that are purchased, these will be financed by a grant to the University's Student Representative Committee. The total sum under the current proposal is estimated to be about $1790. A smaller amount of the collection shall consist of and be open to donations.

Will I need to pay for this?

No. Access to the books will be free for all members. However if any material sustains damage during your loan period, you may be liable for covering a replacement copy.

How can I make comments on this?

From now until the 10th of August, the society will be accepting feedback from members for this proposal on the form below.

Afterwards, we will be reflecting on the feedback and making appropriate amendments.
